Internationalisation of applied research from universities of applied sciences improves the quality and impact of research. In 2022, Regieorgaan SIA (the Taskforce for Applied Research SIA) started the pilot programme Towards Europe. One of the programme’s aims is to enable universities of applied sciences to better connect with the European research agenda.

Regieorgaan SIA encourages the professionalisation and strengthens the quality of applied research in universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands, and supports the universities of applied sciences to do these themselves. We do this through various funding mechanisms.

A VIP reception desk made of waste wood
On the 6th floor of the Johan Cruyff ArenA, at the entrance of the VIP area, there is a brand new, luxuriously executed hospitality desk. You wouldn't say at first glance that it's made of waste wood. The desk is designed and built, with the help of industrial robots, by researchers and students of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences.
