CIIIC PRO

The CIIIC PRO funding scheme is intended for research projects that investigate the effects of immersive experiences (IX) on public values. Examples of public values include privacy, safety and health. Research projects can carry out research for a maximum of 4 years under CIIIC PRO. The projects develop validated knowledge, methods and practical approaches that help to design, apply and scale up IX responsibly. In this way, they support public and private organisations in their capacity for adoption and commissioning, and contribute to a strong and responsible Dutch IX sector. 

A consortium for CIIIC PRO must consist of a lead applicant from a Dutch research institution and at least two co-applicants from the SME sector and/or the public sector.

A maximum of € 700.00 in research funding may be applied for per project. The total amount of funding available under this scheme is € 3,600.00. The Taskforce for Applied Research SIA is expected to award grants to 5 applications. 

The partners in the research must contribute at least 50% of the amount applied for, either in cash or in kind. This can be contributed either through an own contribution or through co-funding.

The closing date for this round of CIIIC PRO is 11 March 2027, 14:00 CEST.

An evaluation panel will assess applications on the basis of the substantive evaluation criteria as set out in the Call for Proposals.

Criteria

• Alignment with the objective (sufficient/insufficient): The project aligns with the objectives and conditions of CIIIC PRO
• Research question (20%): The research question stems from a current practical need and the results are useful for professionals and society.
• Networking (20%): The consortium comprises relevant partners who actively collaborate, each with a clear role, and who develop and share knowledge throughout the project. 
• Research plan (60%): The project has a strong research question, a well-founded approach and a realistic plan for implementation, impact and application of the results in practice, research and education.

Procedure

If your application meets the submission criteria, an assessment panel comprising independent experts from academia and the professional field will assess your application. Following a preliminary assessment and an interview, a final assessment will take place and you will receive the decision approximately 5 months after submitting the proposal.

As an applicant, you are responsible for making clear agreements with consortium partners regarding who will have access to the research results and who holds which rights. Applicants are obliged to set out the intellectual property arrangements in the consortium agreement before the start of the project.

Make arrangements regarding open access publications, data management and the ethical aspects of the research.

It is also important to check whether the application meets the conditions regarding knowledge security.

Has the application been successful? The project can commence as soon as the start form, the data management plan and the consortium agreement have been submitted and approved. The maximum duration of the project is 4 years. During the project’s implementation, the project leader keeps the Taskforce for Applied Research SIA informed of the project’s progress, and the consortium participates in the annual programme meetings and the CIIIC knowledge-sharing committee. Any changes to the project – for example, to the consortium, the activities or the budget – must be submitted to the Taskforce for Applied Research SIA for approval in advance. Does your research project require approval from an ethics review committee or another body? If so, please ensure you send us a copy of the ethics authorisation or statement before the start of your project or before the start of the relevant work package (as specified in the application form). If you fail to do so, that part of the research cannot commence even if your application has been approved.
